Jaipur, June 17 -- At least 50% of the tickets in the panchayat and civic bodies elections in Rajasthan will be reserved for the people under 50 years of age, the Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra said on Monday. "The block presidents, mandal presidents, and booth chairmen will have significant roles during the ticket distribution process in the local bodies poll, which is going to take place later this year. We have also decided that 50% tickets will be given to the people under 50 years. The necessary reservations for women will also be maintained," said Dotasra. On Monday, the Congress state chief held a one-on-one meeting with all the party's coordinators across the state assemblies and gathered necessary feedback on the regular block level meeting, implementation of the booth and mandal executives, and the performances of leaders at the local units. "I have taken detailed feedback from all the units. I can assure that our workers are putting their best foot forward to build a strong organisation on the ground. I have asked to submit a performance based report based on which the top leadership will take the necessary calls about ticket distribution in the local body polls and other organisational reshuffle," he said addressing a press conference after the meeting. Meanwhile, he also alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) does not want to conduct the local body polls. "They are causing troubles for the Congress executives, sarpanches in the panchayat and civic bodies to deliver their works. The minister, (Jhavar Singh) Kharra, is announcing the tentative poll schedule instead of the state election commission. Despite his announcements, many other BJP leaders and ministers are still saying the polls will be held in 2027. The BJP is after the 'One State, One Election' policy only no matter how unlawful it is." He added: "Their intention is so clear that they did not even conduct any bypoll so far in Sri Ganganagar and Bharatpur despite the tenure of the panchayats in those districts coming to an end. Instead, they appointed the district collectors as the administrators of those panchayat units, which is illegal. Even the high court questioned their delimitation process and sought a detailed report." He added: "The BJP is only running on some slips passed from Delhi. Neither the CM nor state president have any say in this party anymore." Dotasra also alleged that Delhi's central leadership of the BJP is tapping the phones of CM Sharma and the ministers in his cabinet. "They keep asking everyone not to call them directly as Delhi is tapping their phones. It seems that they have no right to move anywhere and work freely. They are just living with a fear of slips." Hitting back at the Congress, BJP spokesperson Laxmikant Bharadwaj said that everybody is aware of Congress's delimitation process. "They made some panchayats with 350 population while another one was with 6,000 population. They divided the Jaipur and Kota municipalities unnecessarily to appease the Muslim voters." He added: "There was a bypoll in some panchayats last week in which BJP won in 35 out of 47 seats. So Congress is scared."...
