Jaipur, Jan. 22 -- Congress is misleading people over the special intensive revision exercise (SIR) of voter rolls, state home minister Jawahar Singh Bedham said, while responding to the opposition party's recent allegations that the ruling BJP government is submitting forged forms to exclude voters' names in electoral rolls. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Bedham said, "Many voters have been found in the voter list who are from different states such as Bihar, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh. The Election Commission is fairly conducting this exercise. The Congress is constantly misleading people over the exercise because they don't want these fake voters to be removed." Bedham's comments came a day after Congress accused Union home minister Amit Shah and BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh of orchestrating large-scale manipulation of Rajasthan's voter lists under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. The party raised the issue at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in Delhi. Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters in Delhi on Tuesday, state Congress president Govind Dotasra alleged that the SIR exercise proceeded smoothly until January 3, after which a "secret plan" was activated. He claimed BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh held a meeting in Jaipur on January 3, to "hatch a plan" to add and delete votes fraudulently. Dotasra further alleged that Union home minister Amit Shah stayed at the chief minister's residence on January 13. Between January 3 and 13, he said, the BJP carried out the alleged operation behind the scenes. "Fake computerised forms were printed assembly-wise. After Amit Shah's visit, BJP MLAs and candidates were called and given pen drives. From the evening of January 13 to January 15, thousands of forms were submitted to delete voter names," he said. Reacting on Wednesday, Bedham said, "Anybody can raise their doubts during this claims and objection period. If we have raised such claims, the Election Commission will scrutinise them. Why is the Congress so scared?" According to data released by the state election department on Wednesday, BJP's 2,316 BLAs raised 21,971 claims for name deletions by Monday - most after January 9. The Congress's 111 BLAs raised only 12 claims....
