Cong govt formed wards, panchayats randomly, says BJP
Jaipur, July 16 -- Rajasthan BJP president Madan Rathore on Tuesday accused the previous Congress government of creating wards and panchayats in a disorganised and biased manner. The Congress hit back at the ruling government for not being able to carry out even a single welfare initiative so far.
Rathore accused the previous Gehlot government of "forming wards and panchayats in an irregular and arbitrary manner", stating that some wards had just 250 voters while others had over 8,000. "The BJP government is now working to rectify these discrepancies to ensure a fair and organised administrative setup, providing equal opportunities to all. Wards and panchayats should not be created for anyone's personal gain," he said at a press conference.
Targeting Congress's constant criticism, Rathore said, "The Congress has developed a habit of negativity and fault-finding. They should now adopt a constructive approach." He affirmed that the BJP is committed to ensuring transparency and fairness in upcoming panchayat and municipal elections.
Rathore also announced that Union home and cooperation minister Amit Shah will visit Jaipur's Dadia area on Thursday to attend an official state event of the cooperation department. "The programme will witness participation from stakeholders across Rajasthan, including BJP workers seeking guidance from Shah. It will be a vital step towards strengthening the cooperative sector and empowering citizens through self-reliance. There is immense potential in making people self-sufficient through cooperative efforts," he added.
In response to Rathore's remarks, Congress spokesperson Swarnim Chaturvedi said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has not been able to carry out even a single welfare initiative so far.
"For the past one and a half years, it has only been engaged in blaming the Congress. Neither are people receiving the promised Rs.25 lakh free treatment, nor are RGHS employees getting medical benefits. The public is also not benefiting from schemes started by the Congress government such as the Udaan scheme or the pension scheme. Under the pretext of reviews, the government has stalled several public welfare programmes," he said.
"As a result, people across the state are now criticising the BJP government. Furthermore, the BJP-led government has not held elections for municipal bodies and panchayats, whose terms expired over a year ago, which is a violation of constitutional provisions," Chaturvedi added....
