Coaching not holistic solution in modern edu: Union minister
Jaipur, Dec. 11 -- Union environment, forest, and climate change minister Bhupender Yadav on Wednesday said coaching centres are not the holistic solution for all the challenges in modern education.
"Indian students have immense potential if they are provided with proper opportunities. We cannot address all the challenges in the education sector in the modern age with coaching centres. It is not a holistic solution. We have to address different challenges of modern education with different strategies," Yadav said during a session on building a knowledge economy with a focus on opportunities, investments, and challenges in the education sector, which was a part of the Pravasi Rajasthani Divas - 2025 at Jaipur's JECC.
"We must focus on building the students as some personalities, not as products. This will help in building a leadership mindset among them. Fundamental education should always focus on character building and personality formation no matter how advanced we are in technology," he added.
Meanwhile, chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma invited the migrated Rajasthanis to invest in the education sector to be an integral part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Developed India. "Knowledge generates an immense enthusiasm that is a key factor in nation building. Rajasthan is swiftly going ahead in skills, education, and employment. We invite the Prawasi Rajasthanis to invest more in this sector, help to develop it with their wisdom, experience, and talent," the CM said during the session.
"We have started providing various skill development courses after 12th standard. We have opened 71 colleges and 61 polytechnic colleges across the state in the last two years. At least 2,200 intakes in the MBBS colleges have also been increased," he added.
Highlighting the importance of building a knowledge-based economy in the state, deputy CM Prem Chand Bairwa also said that Rajasthan's youth require proper opportunities to contribute in various sectors by utilising their skills. "Our double engine government is constantly working to build a suitable environment for the students, their education, and also further skill development. We want to make our students job makers instead of employees. They have talents, they are potent, and are also able to compete with the world," Bairwa said.
The session was also attended by state education minister Madan Dilawar, education secretary Krishna Kunal, higher education secretary Kuldeep Ranka, and educationists and industrialists including chancellor of Amity University Aseem Chauhan, director of PhysicsWallah Prateek Maheswari, etc.
Addressing the event, Ranka said Rajasthan has received about Rs.1,200 crores investment. "We have already uploaded a list of investible projects and gaps in our education fields where we look for investments," he said....
