Jodhpur, Aug. 17 -- Rajasthan chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Friday said that the "double-engine government" is committed to making the state self-reliant and prosperous, working on the principles of development and good governance. "Every citizen today has abundant opportunities for growth. India's global stature has risen, and the nation has also emerged as a significant military power, as demonstrated during Operation Sindoor," he remarked. Remembering the valour of soldiers guarding the borders, Sharma also thanked police personnel, civil organisations, and social workers for their contributions to nation-building. He praised the Prime Minister's historic decisions over the past 11 years, citing welfare schemes such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Ayushman Bharat, Ujjwala Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, and Kisan Samman Nidhi as life-changing for millions. On the state's development agenda, the chief minister highlighted ongoing projects to achieve water self-sufficiency, including the Ramjal Setu Link Project, the Yamuna Water Agreement, and the recently completed Navnera Barrage. He also spoke about the Karmabhoomi Se Matribhumi campaign, under which thousands of water structures are being built with the help of NRIs and philanthropists. Under the Mission Hariyalo Rajasthan, the government aims to plant 500 million saplings in five years, with 150 million already planted. Sharma further outlined initiatives to make Rajasthan energy self-reliant, including the Integrated Clean Energy Policy-2024, which aims to push renewable energy capacity to 125 GW by 2030. "Farmers in 22 districts are now receiving daytime electricity, we have the goal of extending the facility to all." The CM also announced a target of building 53,000 km of road network in five years, strengthening rural connectivity with 1,300 new villages connected through bitumen roads and over 6,300 km of missing links completed. He added that the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit has attracted investment proposals worth more than Rs.35 lakh crore, many of which are being implemented on the ground. For youth, Sharma said the government has set a goal of creating 1 million jobs - 400,000 in the public sector and 600,000 in private. So far, over 75,000 appointment letters have been issued, 168,000 posts are under recruitment, and 300,000 youths have received skill training. Women are also being supported through schemes such as subsidised LPG cylinders at Rs.450, Ayushman Aarogya coverage up to Rs.25 lakh, Lakhpati Didi programme benefiting 780,000 women, Maa Voucher Yojana for free sonography of pregnant women, and Lado Protsahan Yojana which has provided saving bonds to over 230,000 girls. Highlighting measures for farmers, he said that 7.6 million farmers have received Rs.6,845 crore under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, while subsidies worth Rs.35,738 crore have been given on electricity bills. Over 160k agricultural connections were issued, and under PM Fasal Bima Yojana, 37.3 million policies were released, ensuring payouts worth Rs.5,338 crore, he said. On security, Sharma announced that 500 Kalika patrolling units, three women battalions, and 65 Anti-Romeo Squads are operational. Initiatives like Operation Anti-Virus have targeted cybercrime, while SITs and an Anti-Gangster Task Force have been formed to crack down on organised crime. Following his address, the CM unfurled the national flag, inspected the parade, and took the salute. An MI-17 helicopter showered petals on the tricolour. Police contingents, RAC, NCC, Scouts-Guides, and school students participated in the march-past, led by IPS officer Hemant Kalal. The ceremony also saw the presentation of the President's Police Medal to ADG ATS and SOG Vijay Kumar Singh, along with awards to several officers and officials for their services.
