Jaipur, Dec. 27 -- Chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Friday launched a sharp attack on former chief minister Ashok Gehlot over his statements on the Aravalli mountain range, accusing Congress of causing extensive damage to the area during its tenure. Sharma said that the Congress government did not even spare stone and sand in Aravalli area and questioned who changed the definition of the Aravallis in 2002-03 and 2009-10, and how many mining leases were issued in the region during that period. Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Western Rajasthan Industry and Handicrafts Festival-2026 in Jodhpur, Sharma alleged that Congress leaders were indulging in false propaganda and reiterated that his government would not allow any tampering with Aravalli range. "There will be no compromise with the protection of the Aravallis," he said. Taking a personal swipe at Gehlot, Sharma referred to him as a "tweet master" and said his influence was fading.
