CM seeks central aid for power and water security
Jaipur, May 25 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Saturday urged the central government to provide more assistance to Rajasthan to ensure better water and power security across the state.
Speaking at the 10th meeting of the NITI Aayog's governing council, Sharma said, "Our government is working rapidly on every aspect to achieve the goal of developed Rajasthan. In view of our economic prosperity, sustainable development and inclusive progress, a document for 'Developed Rajasthan 2047' is being prepared in accordance with the guidelines of NITI Aayog. However, I expect more assistance from the central government for our water and power security."
Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP), Sharma urged a relaxation for setting up additional units in Kalisindh and Chhabra thermal projects and new thermal unit of 3200 MW in the state as the distance from the pit head is more than 500km.
"I also request to make 20 lakh metric tonnes of coal, which are being supplied from South Eastern Coal Field from Northern Coalfield, to be available from the Northern Coalfield. To improve energy security, I have also urged the Central Government to allocate an additional target of 5000 MW power generation and 5000 MW hour for battery storage to the State under Component-A of PM Kusum Yojana," he said.
He requested the government to prepare a plan for evacuation of 40 GW additional energy to achieve the target of generating 115 GW electricity for Rajasthan....
