CM directs officials, distt admins to give top priority to road safety
	
		
				Jaipur, Nov. 4 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has directed departments and district administrations to accord top priority to road safety and take immediate preventive measures.
A senior official familiar with the development said the CM emphasized that ensuring public safety is the government's foremost responsibility and no negligence will be tolerated.He said the CM has directed officials to strengthen traffic management across national highways, state highways, and urban roads. He ordered strict action against unauthorized parking of trucks and other vehicles on highways, illegal entry points, roadside eateries, shops, and encroachments. Sharma also directed that safe parking zones and truck lay-in areas be expanded to provide alternative spaces for drivers.
He stressed strict adherence to road safety signs and ordered the closure of illegal cuts and unauthorized U-turns, rectification of accident-prone "black spots," and removal of unapproved bus stops and auto stands. He directed a zero-tolerance policy against overloading in heavy and public transport vehicles, along with stringent enforcement against overspeeding, wrong-side driving, drunken driving, and mobile phone use while driving.
Sharma also called for strengthening speed monitoring systems and camera-based auto-challan mechanisms through modern technology. Expressing concern over stray cattle on highways and city roads, he instructed urban bodies and panchayats to launch special drives for their removal and ensure coordination with cowsheds for sustainable management....
