CM calls for dedicated official administration
Jaipur, April 17 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Thursday said that efficient and accountable functioning by officials is key to fast-tracking delivery of public services and ensuring that the benefits of government policies reach citizens.
Addressing the oath-taking ceremony of the Rajasthan Secretariat Service Officers' Association at the State Secretariat, Sharma emphasised time-bound redressal of public grievances as central to good governance. He also pointed to the state's ongoing multi-sectoral growth, citing major irrigation and drinking water projects such as Ram Jal Setu Link, Dewas Project, Yamuna Water Agreement and Som-Kamla-Amba schemes.
Sharma said farmers in 24 districts are now receiving daytime electricity, while a new youth policy is driving entrepreneurship. He said over 125,000 government jobs have been filled so far, with recruitment for an equal number underway.
Reaffirming the state government's commitment to employee welfare, Sharma said several key decisions have been taken over the past two-and-a-half years, including timely promotions and an increase in the gratuity limit from Rs.20 lakh to Rs.25 lakh. Under RGHS scheme, employees have been given the option to include either their parents or in-laws for medical benefits, he said.
The chief minister said the Budget 2026-27 includes long-term provisions for employees and pensioners. A high-level committee will study issues related to promotions and pay scales, and also examine recommendations of the upcoming Eighth Pay Commission. He added that officers will be encouraged to shift from a rule-based to a role-based work culture through international-level training.
Sharma also said provisions have been made to include daughters-in-law under compassionate appointments, allow child care leave for single women employees in six phases, and establish 'Mukhyamantri Shishu-Vatsalya Sadan' to provide a stress-free workplace for women employees. He also announced the creation of 15 additional posts at the Assistant Secretariat level to provide more promotion opportunities, after a similar move in 2025....
