CM approves ips officer Rajeev sharma's name for state dgp
Jaipur, July 2 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has approved Indian Police Service officer Rajeev Sharma's name for the post of Director General of Police (DGP) of the state and sought an approval from the central government to relieve him of his current post, an official familiar with the matter said on Tuesday.
"Rajeev Sharma, one of three officers along with IPS Rajesh Nirwan (another officer from Rajasthan who is on central deputation), and the DGP of the Rajasthan's intelligence unit Sanjay Agrawal were finalised by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the CM's preference to pick any one of them as the DGP. Sharma's name has been approved by the CM. He is currently on the central deputation," an official from the chief minister's office said. The request was put on late Monday night.
"We have also sought an approval from the central government to relieve him as soon as possible so that he can take the charge of his new designation in Rajasthan. Soon the central government relieves him, we will announce him as the new DGP," the official said.
Sharma, a 1990-batch IPS officer from Uttar Pradesh cadre, is currently serving as the director general of the Bureau of Police Research and Development in New Delhi. Earlier, he served as the DGP of Rajasthan's Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), Law and Order, and the Rajasthan Police Academy.
