Jaipur, July 20 -- Rajasthan chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Saturday approved Rs.95 crore for the construction of two dams in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand as part of interstate Yamuna Water Share Project, said officials. In an official statement, the CM's Office said, "Providing adequate water for drinking and irrigation purposes to the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan is among the top priorities of the state government. Under the leadership of CM Sharma, necessary action is being taken in a swift mode to bring the Yamuna Water Agreement to reality. Sharma has approved Rs.95 crore from the state's share for the construction works of Renukaji (Himachal Pradesh) and Lakhwar Dam (Uttarakhand) located in the upper part of Yamuna basin. This historic decision will make possible a permanent solution to the water crisis in Shekhawati region where the state's share of water will be available throughout the year."
