Jaipur, July 21 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma held a high-level review meeting at the chief minister's residence on Sunday on the situation following heavy rains in several districts of the state. He instructed the administration to prioritise the safety of people and carry out rescue and relief operations in the affected areas with vigilance and sensitivity. Sharma said, "Due to the rain-induced situation, officials should remain alert and take swift action. Continuous monitoring should be sone in low-lying and flood-prone areas and there should be regular updates on water levels in rivers, ponds, and reservoirs. Teams from SDRF, civil defence, and home guards should remain alert with adequate resources." He also instructed that control rooms in each district be operated effectively and helpline numbers be widely publicised. The CM also directed officials to carry out timely evacuation of affected people and livestock to safe locations. He emphasised the need to ensure the availability of essential resources in affected areas and maintain basic services. "There should be no shortage of drinking water, food supplies, and other necessary items for people in waterlogged areas," he said. He also directed timely repair of damaged roads and restoration of power supply. Continuous monitoring of damaged dams and canals should be done, and necessary repair work should be carried out, he added. He directed the district collectors to install warning signboards at flood-affected roads, bridges, rivers, and streams, and to disseminate information about relief and rescue efforts being undertaken by the district administration....
