CM, Raje lead roadshow for BJP's Anta candidate
Jaipur, Nov. 7 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party has unleashed its full political might in the Anta assembly bye-elections, with chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and former chief minister Vasundhara Raje jointly leading a roadshow in Mangrol (Baran) in support of BJP candidate Morpal Suman.
Voting for the Anta bypoll will be held on November 11, and counting will take place on November 14. The contest is shaping up between BJP's Morpal Suman, Congress candidate Pramod Jain Bhaya, and Independent Naresh Meena. After weeks of speculation and internal murmurs over the delay in ticket declaration, the BJP's campaign gained renewed energy with the joint appearance of CM Sharma and Vasundhara Raje - seen as a symbolic show of solidarity to counter Opposition claims of factionalism.
Addressing the crowd, chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma reaffirmed his government's commitment to a corruption-free and development-driven administration. "Our double-engine government is working tirelessly to bring welfare to every household. Solving people's problems is not a favour - it is our duty," he said. Emphasising his government's focus on youth empowerment and employment generation, Sharma said, "We gave 1,000 jobs in a single day, 1.5 lakh (150k) are in process, and 4 lakh (400k) more will soon follow. The youth of Rajasthan need not worry - opportunities are being created transparently across every sector."
Taking direct aim at the Congress, Sharma accused the Opposition of deceiving the public and engaging in corruption and appeasement politics. "Congressmen are people of lies and loot. Their politics is based on corruption, caste, and appeasement. I want to make it clear - this won't be tolerated in Rajasthan anymore," said Sharma. Drawing a contrast, he added, "While Congress only made promises, it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who truly lifted people out of poverty through concrete action."
Sharma highlighted major irrigation and infrastructure initiatives underway in the Anta region, including Rs.9,416.7 crore worth of works under the revised Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal (Ram Jal Setu Link) Project to enhance water supply through key barrages and dams. He said tenders have been issued for canal repairs, pond renovations, and river re-sectioning, while Rs.862 crore canal lining and Rs.353 crore distributary rehabilitation works are progressing rapidly. A DPR under the Parvan Project will also enable irrigation across 18,000 hectares in Baran and Jhalawar. Alongside, the Rs.174-crore Mal-Bamori-Mangrol-Baran road and other connectivity projects are nearing completion. Sharma said these projects will boost irrigation, resolve drinking water issues, and improve rural connectivity across Anta.
Former CM Vasundhara Raje, addressing the rally, said, "People often complain about the poor condition of roads in Baran. I want to remind them - these roads were promised by our earlier government, and now this government is fulfilling that promise," she said.
Commenting on the development, state Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra said the CM has nothing new to tell people - and even Vasundhara Raje knows it. "People are angry and feel cheated. No development has taken place in the past two years, and even the local MLA rarely visits the area," he said. "The infighting within the BJP is no secret, it was clearly visible even during the candidate selection process for Anta," he said....
