Jaipur, Feb. 9 -- Leader of opposition Tikaram Jully on Sunday accused chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and the BJP government of hypocrisy on environmental issues, and prioritising publicity over substantive governance. "Those who plotted to destroy Aravallis are today preaching environmental conservation like hypocrites...Whether work gets done in the state or not, government advertisements and branding are aggressively promoted," Jully said Referring to the CM's recent inauguration of development works worth Rs.152 crore in Alwar, he questioned whether any actual development had occurred or if it was merely an attempt to claim political credit. He dismissed the government's "two years versus five years" narrative as a political slogan, alleging failure to deliver on key welfare promises. Jully claimed the government could not provide scooters to girls within two years and had discontinued the sanitary napkin scheme, questioning its moral authority to make tall claims. Jully said the chief minister often spoke of helping the "last person in the queue," but in reality, the administration benefited only those in the "first row"-its preferred supporters. He mocked the chief minister's speeches, alleging they lacked original achievements and focused mainly on praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Jully said the party's past support for controversial farm laws exposed its "anti-farmer" stance, despite current claims of supporting farmers and labourers. He alleged the BJP had pushed Rajasthan back into the category of a "backward or ailing state," reversing developmental gains. The leader demanded clarity from the CM over the status of the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project, accusing the government of hollow promises. He termed the government's claims under the Jal Jeevan Mission "misleading," alleging many still struggled for drinking water. The LoP accused the government of allowing bureaucracy to become "uncontrolled," with a lack of coordination between ministers and officials. He said the CM focused on speeches while public grievances remained largely unaddressed. BJP spokesperson Ram Lal Sharma responded: "If Congress leaders had truly worked for public sentiments, they would have been in power in Delhi and Rajasthan. The people have always welcomed the BJP's plans and policies and accordingly brought the party to power. The Congress is nowhere on the ground, and its leaders are only making statements."...
