CBI raids BoB branch manager's residence in Jodhpur in DA case
JODHPUR, July 10 -- A team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday carried out a search operation at the Jodhpur residence of a Bank of Baroda manager in connection with a case of possessing assets disproportionate to known sources of income. The action came a day after the CBI registered a formal case against the officer.
The accused, Vivek Kachhawaha, was serving as the Branch Manager at the Bank of Baroda's Raimalwara Branch in Osiyan, Jodhpur district. He was earlier arrested by the CBI on February 17 this year while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000. During searches conducted at that time, the CBI recovered several documents that later formed the basis of a fresh investigation.
After analysing the recovered material and verifying his income and assets over the period from June 1, 2024, to February 17, 2025, the CBI concluded that Kachhawaha had amassed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. Acting on a complaint submitted by CBI Inspector Madan Beniwal, a Regular Case was registered on July 8 under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018). "Substantial gaps were found between the accused's declared income and the value of his assets and expenditures during the investigation period," said an official familiar with the developments.
The probe has been formally handed over to Inspector Maldan of the CBI's Anti-Corruption Branch in Jodhpur....
