barmer/jalore, Dec. 5 -- An allegedly speeding car ran over five women along with a small child on Thursday on Samatipura Road, police said, adding two women died on the spot, while a three-year-old boy suffered critical injuries and has been referred to Pali.
Two other injured women are receiving treatment at the General Hospital in Jalore.
According to the information, the five MGNREGA labourers were working at the site when the car, arriving at high speed from the Samatipura side, went out of control and hit four women who were sitting on the roadside. The car also struck a three-year-old child before crashing into a tree.
The two women who lost their lives on the spot have been identified as Badami (50) and Gugi Devi (45), both residents of Taskhana Baori in Jalore city. The injured include Indra (45), her son Dheeraj Kumar (3), and Leela Devi (48).
All three were immediately transported by ambulance to the General Hospital.
Police reached the site soon after receiving the information and registered a case under relevant sections. An investigation has been initiated to trace the absconding driver....
