Car mows down rescuers, 4 dead in chittorgarh
Udaipur, Dec. 9 -- At least four people were killed while three others sustained injuries after a car ran over them at a state highway in Chittorgarh on Sunday night, said officials.
According to deputy SP Anjali Singh, the accident took place around 8 pm on Sunday near Madna on the Begu-Chittorgarh route when the deceased man along with three of the injured in the incident reached to rescue a couple on a two-wheeler who had met an accident. "A four-wheeler approaching from the opposite side first hit the bike and then mowed down all of them. All the injured were taken to hospitals in Kota, Udaipur and Chittorgarh," she said.
The bike-riding couple, Shambhulal and his wife Kali Bai, fell on the road after the collision. People present at a nearby dhaba reached the spot to help the injured couple. Meanwhile, a car coming from Chittorgarh towards Kota ran over the individuals who were engaged in the rescue effort, DySP Singh added.
A second car coming from behind hit the car, causing it to overturn. The car that struck the Eeco also collided with the road divider. All the bodies have been kept in the mortuary of Begu Sub-District Hospital, she said....
