BSF installs new fencing, floodlights
Barmer/Jaisalmer, Dec. 25 -- The Border Security Force (BSF) is installing new and advanced flood lights along the India-Pakistan border, senior officials said.
In addition to this, a comprehensive operation to heighten border patrols during the winter, titled "Operation Sard Hawa" is also being conducted. they added.
Inspector General of BSF, Jodhpur Frontier, ML Garg said the measures aim to enhance night-time visibility, increase patrolling, and ensure heightened vigilance.
Garg said that road construction work covering nearly 1,600 kilometres along the international border, approved by the Centre, has already begun. Along with this, a modern fencing line is being laid and new-generation flood lighting (BFL) is being installed to significantly improve night-time surveillance.
Highlighting infrastructure and connectivity initiatives, IG Garg informed that the announcement made by Union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw during his recent visit to Jaisalmer regarding the construction of new railway lines in Rajasthan's border areas will enhance connectivity for security forces deployed in remote areas, benefit local residents, and promote tourism.
Addressing the climatic challenges posed during winter, Garg said that the BSF was well-equipped with adequate manpower, modern equipment, and the appropriate resources to deal with such challenges without compromising border security.
He further said that under 'Operation Sard Hawa', vigilance along the international border will be intensified, patrolling will be increased, and officers along with personnel equipped with modern weapons will remain deployed to ensure that no untoward incident takes place.
Reiterating the BSF's commitment, Garg said the force remains fully prepared to safeguard the western border and will continue to strengthen border management through modern infrastructure, advanced technology, and constant alertness in the interest of national security....
