Jaipur, June 17 -- In the 2021 SI recruitment exam paper leak case, Rajasthan SOG arrested a chief block education officer (CBEO) on Sunday for allegedly purchasing a question paper for Rs.10 lakh for his son ahead of the exam, officials said of the matter said on Monday, adding that his son has also been arrested. A senior official from the agency said, "The CBEO, Buddhisagar Upaddhyaya, was posted in Udaipur. He purchased the paper from Kundan Pandya, who was arrested earlier this month, for allegedly getting access to the paper directly from former Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) member Babulal Katara. Buddhisagar's son Aditya Upaddhyay ranked 19th in the exam and was currently posted in the RPA as a trainee SI from where he was also arrested on Sunday." According to officials, Buddhisagar got in touch with Kundan when he was on deputation at the Tribal Area Development office in Udaipur. Kundan had been working as a warden in a tribal hostel in the city in 2021, officials further said. "The former RPSC member Katara, who was also arrested earlier for leaking the SI-2021 question paper, was also working in the same office. Kundan promised Buddhisagar to get the question paper for his son. After receiving the paper from Katara, Kundan also sold the paper to several other candidates at the same price of Rs.10 lakh," said the officer, adding that Buddhisagar's name came to the fore during the recent interrogation of Kundan.
