Jaipur, July 14 -- The BJP MLA from Banswara's Garhi, Kailash Meena, on Sunday accused the inspector of a local police station of taking bribes from land mafias and ignoring the public duties. Meena, who had been staging a dharna in Garhi for the last two days over the alleged hooliganism of land mafias met the deputy commissioner of police of Garhi circle, Sudarshan Palliwal, and accused Rohit Kumar, inspector of the Garhi police station, of taking bribe inside the police station. In a video that was widely shared on social media, Meena could be seen and heard telling the DSP at his office on Sunday: "Several complaints have been lodged by the locals at his police station against the mining and land mafias who took away their lands illegally. But the inspector didn't take any action against them." "Those goons sit at his office daily and pay him bribes. Sometimes, he also takes bribe from the victims as an agent of those mafias. Despite several warnings, he has not corrected himself. Who will pay a heed to the poor tribal people if an MLA is not heard here?" he questioned. HT has seen the video and the MLA has also confirmed its authenticity. During the conversation, he also touched DSP Palliwal's feet urging him to immediately take action against Kumar. He also said that recently he received a complaint from an individual, Pawan Bamaniya, that a patwari in the area Nikhil Garhsiya fraudulently transferred a piece of land registered on his grandmother's name to a land mafia Tanuj Pandya. "Bamaniya's grandmother passed away in 2020 but the documents of these lands said that she signed those papers in 2022 to transfer the land to Pandya. We also received information that Pandya had now transferred it to two local police officials Rahul Kumar and Thavarchand. Despite registering an FIR to Rohit Kumar at his police station, he is not taking any action against Pandya and other accused because he is regularly taking bribes from them," said the MLA. The video has sparked a political slugfest as the Congress leaders attacked the BJP government over the deteriorating law and order situation. "The photo of the BJP MLA sitting on a dharna in the police station is a slap on the face of the government. Under the BJP rule, the mafia is the 'king', the ruling party's MLA is a 'complainant' seeking justice at the doorstep of the police station. In the state, BJP's public representatives bow down and the mafia smiles... this is the condition of Rajasthan," said leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully on X. "The gravel business is flourishing and land mafias are ruling the state under the protection of the government, administration and the leaders. The BJP government in Rajasthan has surrendered before the mafias and democracy in Rajasthan has now turned into a 'mafia-cracy'." The accused inspector, Rohit Kumar, said, "I have already updated the senior officials about the case. All allegations are false. They can't take any action against me until they get any concrete evidence." The DSP said that a probe has been launched and necessary action will be taken against the culprits....
