BJP leader booked for assaulting 2 workers
Bharatpur, June 15 -- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) pradhan of Niwai panchayat samiti has been booked for allegedly assaulting two men in Tonk district, police officers aware of the matter said on Saturday.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. HT could not independently verify the authencity of the video.
Ramji Lal, Niwai police station in-charge, said that a man, Ramesh Kharol, registered complaint on Friday evening the pradhan, Ramniwas Langdi, for allegedly assaulting him and his co-worker.
According to Kharol, the assault took place nearly 15 days ago, police said.
After the video went viral, Tonk superintendent of police Vikas Sangwan directed Niwai police station in-charge to investigate the incident.
In the FIR, the worker alleged that he and his nephew worked as daily wagers at Pradhan's farmhouse, where he attacked then with a whip. He accused them of stealing wheat, it added.
"We have registered a complaint against the accused. Legal action will be taken against him," a police officer said on condition of anonymity.
HT reached out to Langdi but he did not respond to request for comment....
