BJP helped people overcome darkness in Raj, says Nadda
Jaipur, June 1 -- Union health minister JP Nadda on Saturday said the BJP regime, headed by chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, has helped the people of Rajasthan emerge from the "darkness" of earlier governments.
"The issue is not of making Bhajan Lal Sharma, the chief minister. The issue is of placing a soldier of our ideology who is working day and night with his team under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to serve Rajasthan," Nadda said while addressing a function organised in memory of the 300th birth anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar, queen of Indore in the Maratha empire.
"You have seen other governments, how they worked, what their thinking was. When there is a stark difference like night and day between the governments, you should at least appreciate the day. you have suffered the disaster of darkness, now you are in the light so guard it," he said.
Nadda's words came as a shot in the arm for CM Sharma amid speculation that he could be replaced for not being able to deliver on governance and development.
Political analyst Manish Godha said, "There has been speculation time and again about Sharma being replaced as he has apparently not been able to deliver. Nadda praised Sharma in his speech today which is a signal that the party high command still has faith in him."
During his day-long visit to Jaipur, Nadda paid tributes to Ahilyabai Holkar and said: "Our government draws inspiration from Ahilyabai Holkar who worked for women's empowerment. By 2029, our parliament will have 33% women. Under PM Modi, the effort has been to move from women's development to women led development."
The minister pointed out that Holkar worked to preserve our culture and traditions 300 years ago in difficult circumstances.
"She was a reformer. She fought to establish social justice 300 years back when the situation of women in society was dismal. she worked for women's empowerment. She promoted women's education, she set up schools. she did this at a time when our country faced attacks from outsiders and there was internal conflict in society and the economy was vulnerable. she fought on all three fronts. she ended internal conflict, she strengthened farmers, traders and she protected our culture and religion from assault by foreigners," he said.
Nadda added, "All these issues are still relevant today because the problems Ahilyabai was tackling, the same problems Prime Minister Narendra Modi is confronted with today and is successfully addressing them to take the society and country forward."
Pointing out that Modi changed the culture of politics, Nadda said: "Earlier there was a blame game between leaders. Today, there is report card politics. there is politics of accountability, of performance, development, response. there is a responsive government. if the people have elected you, you will have to show them your report card."
Addressing the party workers, Nadda lauded "Operation Sindoor" launched by the Indian armed forces, saying Pakistan was brought to its knees in four days.
"Under the able leadership of PM Narendra Modi, the Indian armed forces destroyed nine Pakistani air bases. Now the country is feeling safe under PM Modi. Operation Sindoor has not ended, it is ongoing," he said.
Nadda also launched several welfare schemes for women initiated by the state government, distributed scooties to girl students, flagged off 150 Kalika units, transferred funds via DBT for schemes for welfare of women and girls. He also inaugurated the first phase of Garbh Ki Pathshaala scheme, Swasth Nari Chetna Abhiyan and Gestational Diabetes Management Program.
In response, Congress spokesperson Swarnim Chaturvedi said Nadda should give directions to state government to improve governance. "There is no electricity, water, crime against women is rising, health and education are in poor shape. The government should focus on improving this which is causing darkness in people's lives...
