Udaipur, Aug. 27 -- In Bhilwara district's Rayla town, the roof of a classroom of the Government Primary School in Janata Colony collapsed on Tuesday morning, officials said, adding that no one was injured. Principal of the school Ehsan Ali said that the foundation of the room had weakened due to waterlogging behind the school building. "We had already informed higher authorities about the waterlogging situation. During inspection, the officials decided to lock and seal the classroom, which ultimately prevented a major tragedy," he said. He further said that the collapse took place at around 9 am while classes were in progress. "At that time, 73 children were present inside the school, but since the damaged classroom was isolated and not in use, all students remained safe," he said. Soon after the incident, villagers and parents staged a protest. District education officer primary Rameshwar Lal Baldi said: "The school was found in bad condition and seeing the condition the room was seized by the team and the students were stopped from entering into it. Today when the classroom collapsed, it was also locked and the students were attending the school in the school ground. No one was injured during the incident. However we have asked the principal of the school to submit the report and also had escalated to the seniors," he said....
