Barmer, Jan. 31 -- Barmer Police has announced that driving on the wrong side of the road will now be subject to criminal FIRs, potential court cases, vehicle seizure, and serious legal consequences, besides a challan. District superintendent of police Narendra Singh Meena said, "Increasing road accidents in the district are largely due to careless and wrong-side driving. These violations put innocent lives at grave risk by endangering public safety." Under the new directive, wrong-side driving is no longer treated as a minor traffic offence. Police will register FIRs under relevant sections, including BNS Section 281 for rash driving or negligent acts endangering life, and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act for dangerous driving.
