Jaipur, May 8 -- The Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) MLA, Jaikrishn Patel, who was caught red-handed by the Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for accepting Rs.20 lakh bribe from a mine owner, was sent to jail on Wednesday along with his cousin Vijay Patel. "We have asked for a four-day police custody for the MLA, his cousin, and other two accused who have been arrested in the case. However, the court sent Patel and his cousin to jail while granting a two-day police custody for the rest two accused - MLA's uncle Jaswant aka Laxman Meena and a private person Jagaram Meena," ACB's counsel Shalini Gautam said. The MLA and Vijay Patel were held on Sunday after being caught taking bribe from mine owner Ravindra Singh Meena (son of BJP MLA Ramniwas Meena). The FIR, which was uploaded by the agency on its website on Wednesday, revealed that "the MLA submitted two questions regarding illegal mining in some villages in Todabhim during the 16th session of the assembly last year. An officer from the mines department had first informed the complainant (Ravindra) about the question and asked him to meet Patel if he is upset with him for some reason." "The complainant met the MLA few days later and asked him if he has any complaint. He also informed the MLA that he is running the mines legally and has all necessary documents. Hence, the MLA assured him that he would drop the question. But he submitted another question on the same matter in the next session. Upon receiving the information from the mines department, Ravindra met him again in March this year when MLA asked for the bribe,." Ravindra contacted the ACB and it kept the MLA under watch while collecting evidence against him collecting bribe twice from the complainant....
