Bangladeshi nationals in Alwar held, say cops
Alwar, May 9 -- Alwar police have launched an extensive operation to identify and detain Bangladeshi nationals residing without valid documentation following the government's directive to identify and deport foreign nationals, particularly those from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and other countries residing illegally in India.
So far, around 117 Bangladeshi citizens have been detained in the district. Most of them are families working at local brick kilns, including women, children, and youth.
Dr Tejpal Singh, additional superintendent of police (headquarters), said the crackdown is part of a nationwide initiative following the Pahalgam incident.
"The Government of India has issued strict instructions to identify and detain illegal foreign nationals. We are acting accordingly in Alwar district," he stated.
The police launched inspections at various brick kilns based on intelligence inputs about the presence of foreign workers. During the operation, more than a dozen Bangladeshi families were found working at these sites.
Preliminary questioning has begun to determine how they crossed the border and whether they received assistance in obtaining Indian identification documents.
The police are also expanding their search within urban areas of Alwar, where many illegal Bangladeshi residents are reportedly staying.
Efforts are underway to trace them and initiate repatriation procedures.
Dr. Singh further emphasised that interrogation is focused on understanding the routes used to cross into India and identifying the facilitators involved in forging local documentation....
