Jaipur, Nov. 14 -- The Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) are probing an alleged terrorist sleeper cell based in Hanumangarh after the investigation into the major alleged terror plot recently uncovered in Hyderabad revealed that they were receiving huge amounts of ammunition from the region, senior officers said on Thursday. The operation covers territory in both Rajasthan and neighbouring Gujarat, said a senior officer of the Gujarat ATS, adding, "We are probing all the aspects. The route in Hanumangarh through which the weapons were sourced is a known drug-smuggling route. It is possible that they were either part of a sleeper cell in the area or were in touch with local gangsters who use the routes for their business. However, we are not yet in a position to confirm anything." The three accused- Dr Ahmed Mohiyuddin Syed (35), Azad Suleiman Sheikh (20) and Moohammed Suhail Saleem (23) were arrested between November 8, when Syed was apprehended near a toll plaza on the Ahmedabad- Mehsana highway and the following day, when the other two accused were apprehended from Gujarat's Banaskantha, said senior police officers. "Two Glock pistols, one Beretta pistol, 30 live cartridges and nearly four litres of castor oil were also recovered from the the car in which Syed was traveling... The three were linked to the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP)," said the officer. Later the ATS also found that Sheikh and Saleem received the ammunition from a bordering area in Rajasthan's Hanumangarh following which a team from the Rajasthan ATS along with a Border Security Force (BSF) team of Rajasthan and IB officials were sent to Gujarat to probe the matter and interrogate the accused. IG of Rajasthan BSF, ML Garg said, "They had received the consignment through a drone that dropped the bag at the border in Hanumangarh. Later, they took Bharatmala Expressway (from Amritsar to Jamnagar) to deliver it to Syed in Gujarat's Kalol. The probe into how they passed all the checkposts on the expressway and also the anti-drone devices in the border area is underway." "There are some pockets where the anti-drone devices were of the archaic variety popular among the drug smugglers in the area. There are also very few police stations. It is possible that the weapons were supplied along with a drug consignment," he added. Meanwhile, Syed, who holds an MBBS degree from China, was also found in possession of the chemical precursors to lethal ricin at the time of his arrest, said officials aware of the details of the investigation....
