Armed force veterans should hoist flags: Min
Jaipur, Aug. 7 -- In a symbolic gesture to honour the armed forces, the state's industries and sports minister Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore has written to chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma, requesting that retired soldiers be allowed to hoist the national flag in all schools across the state on Independence Day on August 15.
"This initiative will offer students a chance to interact directly with the country's veterans and draw inspiration from their stories," the minister's letter said. Rathore added that the move would not only strengthen Rajasthan's proud military legacy but also deepen citizens' respect for soldiers and foster a stronger sense of patriotism.
Rathore also referred to a similar initiative in Haryana, where the government has allowed retired defence personnel to hoist the flag in schools. He urged Rajasthan to implement the same.
"Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our brave soldiers have upheld the spirit of 'Nation First', establishing a global image of dignity, courage, and national honour. India's prestige has been further strengthened," he wrote.
He paid tribute to the nation's brave soldiers, stating, "On this proud occasion, we salute the sons of Bharat Mata who have always prioritised the security of the nation above all." He added that Rajasthan has a rich history of valour, honour, and respect for its soldiers....
