ANTF seizes Rs.563-cr drugs in six months, arrests 258
Jaipur, April 6 -- The Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) in Rajasthan has seized drugs worth over Rs.563 and arrested 258 people, six months since its formation, officials said.
ANTF IG Vikas Kumar said, "In view of the rising drug smuggling cases in Rajasthan, this agency was set up in October. In only 175 days, we have arrested 258 people, seized crores of drugs from them. Our operations are not only limited to Rajasthan but had been expanded to other states. Our target is to finish the drug-smuggling issue from its root and therefore our team is working hard to achieve that goal taking regular action."
Of the total arrested, 32 are from Rajasthan. Meanwhile, many were also arrested from Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, and West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Telangana, and Manipur
The latest data shared by ANTF also showed a rising trend of synthetic drugs as various illegal tablets, weighing more than 23,000 kg were seized in just six months followed by 18,000 kilograms of ganja, 10,550 kilograms doda. "A significant amount of opium, MD drugs were also seized in this period. At least 30 MD factories have been busted, of which six have been directly seized by the ANTF, five huge consignments of opium smuggling have been seized, and 45 drug smugglers have been nabbed," he added.
Kumar, said that the supply of illegal drugs are rising from the eastern and north eastern states rapidly in the last few years while the traditional route from Pakistan from where most of such drugs get smuggled in the state is on decline.
Chemical drugs are majorly being supplied to Rajasthan from Manipur, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa, while Doda powder is a large source from Bihar and Jharkhand, Odisha, and Telangana, officials said....
