Jaipur, July 20 -- The state government plans to revamp the BJP government's Annapurna Rasoi scheme, which provided food at subsidised rates, and run it on the lines of Chennai's Amma canteens, officials said.

The government said it wants to change the format of the scheme so as to spend money in a transparent manner. The government spent about Rs. 250 crore on the scheme to provide food at 495 locations in 191 urban local bodies.

The Annapurna Rasoi scheme was launched by former chief minister Vasundhara Raje in 2016. Under the scheme, vans were stationed at public places such as hospitals, bus stands and railway station and provided food to customers at subsidised rates.
