Ajmer, May 11 -- Ajmer's iconic Taragarh Fort, linked to Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan and believed to be nearly 1,400 years old, is set for a major transformation under a Rs.20 crore restoration and tourism development plan approved in the Rajasthan budget. Rajasthan assembly speaker Vasudev Devnani on Saturday reviewed the proposed revival works at the historic hilltop fort along with senior administrative and police officials. Perched nearly 1,300 feet above the Aravalli hills, the historic Taragarh Fort is expected to undergo large-scale conservation, beautification, and tourism-focused redevelopment. The project includes plans for a museum park, laser show, cafe, parking facilities, improved road connectivity, preservation of Chauhan-era inscriptions, and restoration of damaged historical structures. During the inspection, Devnani said the restoration work will focus on protecting the fort walls, ancient remains, and documenting the history of Ajmer founder Ajayraj Chauhan along with other Chauhan rulers. Officials said proposals are also being prepared for a documentary on the fort, development of a history and culture museum, restoration of a British-era railway bungalow and repair of seven to eight stepwells. A walking trek through the Aravalli terrain and a cafeteria near the Doordarshan tower are part of the tourism plan....
