Jaipur, Jan. 12 -- Nearly 23 months after joining Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the Lok Sabha election, former minister Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya on Sunday declared his wish to return to the Congress, saying he felt "suffocated" with the BJP. At around 11 am on Sunday, Malviya had a meeting with the Congress state-in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, and leader of opposition Tikaram Jully in Banswara. Following the meeting, he told the reporters, "I joined the BJP being inspired with their 'double engine' government's formula. I thought I would be able to continue my work and develop this area. But, the BJP, despite being in power in the state, has failed to deliver the works they promised. I am feeling suffocated working with them. I have always been a Congress worker by heart. I will come back to the party." "I have sent a formal letter to the party state president Govind Singh Dotasra. Now, the high-command will take the further decision. But I am considering myself a Congress member only from now onwards." The four-time MLA retained his Bagidora constituency in the 2023 state assembly election but later resigned and switched to BJP on February 19, 2024. Dotasra said, "Malviya said he had already resigned from the BJP. Our disciplinary committee will review it and send a report to the high command who will take the further decision." BJP state vice president Narayan Panchariya said, "Our state president Madan Rathore is reviewing the matter and will take necessary action."...
