890K enrolled in 'Sahakar Sadasyata Abhiyan': CM
Jaipur, Nov. 2 -- The state's co-operatives enrolled around 890,000 new members under the "Sahakar Sadasyata Abhiyan" between October 2 and 22, a statement from the chief minister's office (CMO) said on Saturday.
In the statement, chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, said, "We are putting constant effort to strengthen the cooperative network at the grassroots level in the state to benefit the maximum number of people- particularly in the rural regions.
"As part of the campaign, we organized various camps at approximately 8,500 Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACs) in which various activities were conducted. The most important goal of the campaign was to include a maximum number of young people and women in the cooperatives. The government has successfully done that," he added in the statement.
As opposed to the target of 130,000 members in Jaipur, a total of 203,000 new member joined, he said, adding that this success was reflected in other districts.
"We have also completed surveys in about 1,706 panchayats to form new PACs. District level officials also held several meetings and discussed the plans to set up 1,296 PACs soon. The Cooperative Department had already received the proposals for 1,275 such PACs," added the chief minister.
He said that under the scheme, officials also identified suitable lands for the construction of godowns in 1,342 cooperative societies which were landless or had insufficient land. At least 1,215 cooperative societies were also made to formally apply for land allotments.
"During the campaign, the Aadhar seeding of 38,850 farmers and e-KYC of 27,640 soldiers have been done for the benefits of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. More than 11 lakh people were also apprised about the key provisions of the proposed new cooperative law for their smooth access to various benefits."
"Through the 'Cooperative Membership Campaign', a huge number of youth and women have joined the cooperative societies, which has further strengthened the cooperative network at the grassroots level in Rajasthan. The formation of new PACs in PAC-less Gram Panchayats will also now create a wide network of cooperation on the ground. It will directly benefit the farmers and villagers. Allotment of land to landless societies will pave the way for construction of new godowns in those societies, which will increase the storage capacity of the state," the chief minister said....
