Jaipur, Aug. 12 -- Eighty-three government school teachers were booked on Monday for allegedly securing their jobs through unfair means, officials familiar with the matter said. The accused teachers were booked by the state Special Operations Group (SOG), officials added. "The move also came a day after the SOG also booked another 123 teachers in the same case on Sunday. The matter came to the fore after an ongoing drive by the state government to review the documents provided by government employees in the last five years. More teachers and other government employees are under our radar," said a senior official, on condition of anonymity. According to officials, all the government departments in Rajasthan had been directed last year to conduct a review process for all employees hired between 2018 and 2023. "It was initiated after a state-wide fake degree racket was uncovered in July last year," he said. "During the process, the education department made a list of about 297 such employees who provided fake documents, backdated degrees, and also impersonated in the exams. Of these total, an FIR has so far been lodged against 206 people. However, many more are under our scrutiny," he said. The FIR was lodged under sections relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), added the official. The development came a day after the state Staff Selection Board (RSSB) identified at least 12 candidates who gave a fake divorce certificate to avail divorced quota benefits in various government examinations, officials said....
