Bharatpur, Dec. 11 -- Seven cow smugglers who were allegedly smuggling cows to Haryana for slaughter were arrested and seven cows were rescued from their possession in Deeg district, police said on Wednesday. Nagar police station received information about cow smuggling on Tuesday night. The accused hit the police car following them and fled but police set up barricades, police said, adding the vehicle overturned and the accused tried to flee but police arrested them. Lakhan Singh, Nagar police station in-charge said, "The smugglers were transporting seven cows from Nadbai to Haryana but police arrested them." All cows have been shifted to cow shelter. Six accused are residents of Haryana while another belongs to Nagar of Deeg. Their vehicle was also seized. They were arrested under relevant sections of Rajasthan Bovine Animal (Prohibition of Slaughter and Regulation Temporary Migration or Export) Act 1995, police said. htc...
