Jaipur, Oct. 27 -- The chief minister's office (CMO) has initiated punitive action following reports of alleged misuse of milk powder supplied under the Pannadhay Bal Gopal Yojana, a welfare scheme aimed at improving children's nutrition in government schools. According to a release from the CMO, the school education department has suspended five officials found prima facie guilty and constituted a three-member high-level committee to investigate the case. Those suspended include Sheela Balai (Teacher, Government Primary School, Jaton ki Dhani, Gangawas, Kalyanpur), Suresh Kumar (Prabodhak, Government Primary School, Naganesiyon ki Dhani, Gangawas, Kalyanpur), Mangalaram (Senior Teacher, Government Upper Primary School, Bhari Nagar, Bawadi, Jodhpur), Pappu Ram Godara (Lecturer, Government Senior Secondary School, Nagana Fata, Balotra), and Rajesh Meena (Principal, Manmoro ki Dhani), said the release. It added that a three-member committee, operating under the Directorate of School Education, Bikaner, has been tasked with verifying the facts mentioned in the misuse reports, collecting evidence, and submitting a detailed factual report within four days. If any other official or teacher is found involved, disciplinary action will be taken under the Rajasthan Civil Services (CCA) Rules, 1958, it said. To ensure no misuse of materials under the mid-day meal programme and related schemes, the department has directed all District Education Officers (DEOs) and Block Education Officers (BEOs) to submit a verified action report within three days, said the release. Additionally, all Panchayat Elementary Education Officers (PEEOs) and Urban Cluster Elementary Education Officers (UCEEos) have been instructed to conduct detailed inspections of at least two schools each - covering around 22,500 schools statewide - and submit their reports to the DEO. School education secretary Krishna Kunal said that orders have also been issued to conduct physical verification of stock in all schools. "If any irregularities are found during verification, strict action will be taken against those responsible," he said. Under Pannadhay Bal Gopal Yojana, pre-primary to class 8 students in government schools are provided hot milk prepared from skimmed milk powder to improve nutrition.
