Bharatpur, Sept. 11 -- Police arrested five members of a gang in an encounter on Wednesday, officers aware of the case said. The gang had earlier shot a jeweller during a robbery in Bharatpur, they said. The matter falls under the Bayana police station and happened on August 27, when a jeweller Trilok alias Pintu Soni (40), from Gandhi Chowk in Bayana town, was shot and robbed when he was returning home to Bayana by his motorcycle. After closing his shop in village Birampura in the evening, he was robbed by unknown men. The criminals fled soon after the robbery. Police teams were constituted to identify and arrest the criminals. Uttar Pradesh Police was also contacted. In an encounter, the police arrested five gang members including the chiefof the gang and his sister.
