Bikaner, July 23 -- Five people were killed and four injured after two cars collided head-on near Sridungargarh in Bikaner district on Monday night, police officers aware of the matter said on Tuesday, adding that both the vehicles were travelling at a high speed. The incident took place around 11pm nearly 3 km from the Ghoomchakkar area on the Bikaner-Jaipur route, they said. Circle Officer, Niket Pareek said, "Both the cars were overspeeding and the impact of the crash was so severe that the vehicles were severely mangled." The deceased were identified as Karan, a resident of Abhay Singh Pura; Dinesh Jakhar and Manoj Jakhar from Bigga; Madan Saran from Sridungargarh; and Surendra Kumar from Napasar, Pareek said. The injured have been identified as Santosh Kumar, Malluram, Jitendra, and Lalchand-all residents of Napasar. They were rushed to PBM Hospital in Bikaner in critical conditions, he added. The rescue team had to cut out through the wreckage to retrieve one body trapped inside, police said. A team of Sridungargarh police soon restored the traffic movement....
