5 HELD IN ALWAR FOR FORCED CONVERSIONS
Jaipur, Oct. 8 -- Five people were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly attempting to coerce poor Hindu villagers to convert to Christianity in Alwar district, police said.
The accused - Prashant Jatav (25), Ramnarayan Bairwa (48), Mahesh Meghwal (24), Keshav Vaidada (39), and Rohit Jatav (25)- were arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by a resident of Nainapur village, said police, adding that religious propaganda and electronic evidence was seized from them.
One of the accused, Rohit Jatav, is from Pegambarpur in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad, added police.
According to Alwar superintendent of police Sudhir Chaudhary, the accused were being questioned to investigate the probable existence of a wider network employing a similar modus operandi to achieve conversions. Funding channels are also being probed, he added....
