Jaipur, Nov. 17 -- Five people, including four children, died and 12 others were injured after a truck crashed into their tempo vehicle on a stretch of the Jodhpur-Jaisalmer National Highway (NH-125) in the Balesar taluk in Jodhpur district early on Sunday, said police. According to police, two of the deceased- Kokila (58) and Priya (14), were identified so far, and the identification process for the remaining was underway. The victims were part of a group of 20 pilgrims bound for Ramdevra from Gujarat's Sabarkantha district, said police, adding that a truck loaded with millet sacks was coming from the opposite direction and rammed into the tempo at around 5.30am, killing three people on the spot. The tempo's bonnet was crushed in the collision's impact, while the truck overturned, said police. Local authorities and villagers shifted the injured to the Balesar government hospital, from where they were referred to the Mathura Das Mathur (MDM) Hospital in Jodhpur, said police. Superintendent of MDM Hospital, Dr Vikas Kumar, said that three victims were brought dead to the hospital, while the injured are under treatment. He added that two died during treatment. Among the 12 injured are Mahendra Singh (35), Kalusingh (32), Himmat Singh (60), Kishabhai (25), and seven children identified as Anuradha (12), Veera (10), Uma (14), Aradhana (15), Hani (8), Nikita (14), Ashiq (10) and Arjun (20). Among them, one has a serious abdominal injury, one has a chest injury, one has a head injury, and the rest are stable, said Kumar.
