5 booked after two labourers died in Jaipur bus blaze
Jaipur, Oct. 30 -- Five people including the owner and driver of the bus, the contractor in charge of the labourers, and the owner of the brick kiln were booked on Wednesday after two Uttar Pradesh-based labourers were killed when a private sleeper bus hit a high-tension line in Jaipur's Manoharpura and caught fire on Tuesday, police said.
Manoharpur inspector, Bhagwan Sahay, said, "The FIR was lodged on Wednesday morning at Manoharpur police station. Primary probe found major negligence from them leading to critical safety lapses in the bus leading to the accident. Further investigation is underway."
According to the police, the incident took place at 10:30am on Tuesday when the bus carrying 45 labourers from UP's Bareilly was heading towards a brick kiln in Manoharpura's Toda when the bus hit a 11,000 KV high-tension line and caught fire. "The bus's roof was stuffed with luggage, two-wheelers, LPG cylinders, and other belongings of the passengers. The roof was overloaded and therefore hit the high tension line easily," he said.
"The bus driver overloaded the vehicle's roof with flammable stuff violating the guidelines and the owner was also found running the bus despite its permit ending on April 21. The contractor and the brick kiln owner were responsible for the safety of those innocent labourers. Prima facie, they forced them to travel in one bus with their luggages despite their refusal," said Sahay.
The bus owner Arif Mansuri, driver Matloob Hussain, contractor Shahrukh, and two owners of the brick kiln Doluram and Kanaram have been booked under the section 105 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita....
