India, Sept. 11 -- Over 4,000 people from Rajasthan are stranded in Nepal amid the ongoing political turmoil, said officials, following which the police on Wednesday launched a special helpline number to assist them. "At least 4,000 people from Rajasthan including around 700 only from Jaipur are stuck in Nepal. There are also 35 tourists from Udaipur, who are stranded there including a local municipality councillor of the Bharatiya Janata Party," said an officer from the Rajasthan police. "The state government is in touch with the External Affairs Ministry and we are taking necessary steps to bring them back," the police officer, cited above said. Meanwhile, the police have also set up a special cell and a helpline number at the Police headquarters in Jaipur to assist these people and their families. "Rajasthan Police has taken a big step to help Indian citizens stranded in Nepal. As per the instructions of Rajiv Sharma, a special cell has been set up at police headquarters, Jaipur. The main objective of this cell is to provide help to Indians facing difficulties in Nepal. For this, a 24x7 helpline and WhatsApp numbers have been issued, through which citizens will be able to get help," said the PHQ in an official statement. The responsibility of the cell has been handed over to SP Govardhanlal Sokaria.
