Barmer/Jalore, Feb. 20 -- A 40-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly slitting the throats of his wife and two children in Jalore district, police said. According to police, the crime took place in Daspa village under the Bhinmal police station area around 11 pm on Wednesday. On Thursday morning at about 6 am, the accused, Mangalaram Purohit, called the police claiming that unknown people had killed his wife and children. When police reached the spot, they found the bodies of his wife Darmi Devi (39), daughter Neeku (10), and son Hitesh (7) lying on a cot inside the house. Blood was splattered on the walls, and the courtyard was soaked with blood. Police said all three victims had their throats slit with a sharp-edged weapon. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team was called to collect evidence from the scene. Bhinmal SHO Rajendra Singh Rajpurohit informed that bloodstains were found on Mangalaram's hands. When police officers questioned him, he broke down and confessed to committing the murders, police said, adding that he has been taken into custody. Preliminary probe suggests that the murders may have been the result of a family dispute, though the exact motive will be clear only after the investigation is completed, police said. According to the police, one child survived the incident as he was not present at the house at the time. The couple's elder son Gopal (18), who works in Andhra Pradesh, while another son, Mukesh (12), was sleeping at his grandfather's house about 100 metres away from the crime scene that night. The family has three sons and one daughter. Further investigation in the case is underway, the Bhinmal SHO said....
