4 officials sacked after hospital roof collapse
Jaipur, May 4 -- At least four officials, including a chief medical health officer of the Jaipur's Sawai Man Singh Hospital were sacked on Saturday, two days after a portion of the roof of the building collapsed, injuring two patients, officials aware of the matter said.
"The action was taken against the four officials for their alleged negligence in maintenance of the hospital and ensuring patients' safety on the premises. Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma held a review meeting with the health department on Friday night and directed officials to take action. Later, high-level officials also visited the hospital and sacked the four officials," said a health department official on condition of anonymity.
The official added that the incident took place on May 1 when a portion of roof at the surgery section's 3H ward in the SMS Hospital collapsed. "Two patients were admitted in that room and sustained injuries on their faces. The doctors immediately treated them. However, the matter sparked a protest by the family members of the victims," he said....
