4 freight stations linked with new two-lane roads
Jaipur, Dec. 23 -- Four stations along the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) in Rajasthan have been connected with all-weather two-lane roads, while construction for eight more stations is under way and expected to be completed soon, according to an official release. The initiative forms part of the state government's effort to strengthen transport and logistics infrastructure.
Aimed at reducing freight transportation costs and boosting industrial activity, the government has launched several measures to improve connectivity to key logistics hubs, the chief minister's office said.
As part of this push, all WDFC stations located along the Rajasthan stretch of the corridor - a vital arm of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor - are being linked through all-weather two-lane roads to make freight movement faster, more accessible and cost-effective.
The state is constructing 59km of two-lane roads at an estimated cost of Rs.112 crore to enhance access to 12 newly developed WDFC stations. Of these, roads to four stations - Kishangarh, Marwar Junction, Keshavganj and Banas - have been built, providing seamless movement for freight vehicles.
Work is ongoing to connect the remaining eight stations-Shrimadhopur, Saradhna, Haripur, Chandawal, Jawali, Birolia, Sakhun and Swaroopganj-through similar roads. Officials said the upgraded network will enable smoother transport of raw materials and finished goods, reduce logistics costs, and improve operational efficiency.
