"We received information about some miscreants creating a law and order situation by pelting stones at each other over a construction dispute. A team along with additional force, was dispatched to the spot. The police had to use mild force to bring the situation under control after being attacked by the mob. So far, 30 people have been detained," said Sudhir Chaudhary, Jaisalmer superintendent of police. "An additional force was deployed immediately upon receiving the alert. The situation is now under control, but security remains tight in the village, with continuous patrolling underway," he further said. "We have appeal all the citizens to maintain peace, refrain from spreading rumors on social media, avoid uploading misleading posts, and cooperate, as the social media team is closely monitoring online platforms, SP further said." It is informed that during the stone pelting, eight police personnel, including tehsildar Lalit Charan and two other people, were injured. Several vehicles were also damaged. We are in the process of identifying others involved in the incident using video footage and eyewitness accounts. "Some miscreants have created a law and order situation by pelting stones at each other. Condemning the incident, Jaisalmer MLA Chotu Singh Bhati said in a post of X: "Such incidents in a sensitive border district like Jaisalmer are not just local law-and-order issues but also raise national security concerns. I have spoken in detail with the district superintendent of police and directed strict action against the miscreants. The honour of Jaisalmer will not be allowed to be tarnished." Barmer MP Ummedaram Beniwal also issued a statement, urging administrative neutrality. In a post on X, he said: "As soon as I learned about the incident, I immediately contacted the police and administrative officials. I have directed them to resolve the issue peacefully through dialogue. However, I must note with concern that the administration's action appears one-sided, creating a sense of distrust among citizens." Sheo MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati also condemned the incident and announced his decision to visit the village. He said: "Today's incident in Basanpeer village, where miscreants attempted to destroy communal harmony and damage a heritage site, is highly condemnable.
