BARMER, July 6 -- Police on Saturday, detained the husband and his alleged girlfriend in the case of a woman's death by suicide in Barmer, whose body was found hanging inside the bathroom of her own house on Thursday. The deceased's maternal family has been staging a sit-in protest outside the mortuary since the incident occurred. A case has also been registered against five individuals, including the husband, his elder brother, and the girlfriend, based on a report filed by the woman's family. Even after 36 hours, no agreement has been reached between the police and the deceased woman's family. The family has refused to claim the body, demanding that a murder case be registered and the named accused be arrested immediately. The case took a political turn after videos showing the woman with visible injuries were widely circulated on social media, sparking public outrage. Responding to the situation, Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal and Barmer MP Ummedaram Beniwal demanded a fair and transparent investigation. Family members of the deceased and community representatives had gathered outside the mortuary, expressing outrage over the suspected torture and inhumane treatment of the woman. Despite several rounds of dialogue with the authorities, the protesting family remained firm in their demand for immediate arrests.
