Jaipur, July 25 -- A 27-year-old man in Jaipur has been detained on Thursday for allegedly killing his 18-month-old son by throwing him into a borewell, officers aware of the matter said. The incident took place on Wednesday night, they added. Jawaramgarh circle officer Pradeep Yadav said, "The child has died. The SDRF and NDRF teams have been deployed on the spot to retrieve the body." According to officials, the accused, identified as Lalit Saini, a residence of Jaipur's Jawaramgarh had long-time dispute with his wife following which she returned to her paternal house one month ago, leaving three their minor children behind. "Since she left, Saini was taking care of the children. His two other sons are also four and three years old," said Yadav. However, Saini got upset when his youngest son, Rampal, fell sick last week. "On Thursday morning, he also took him to the doctor. But his health kept deteriorating. Getting upset with his health issues, Saini threw him into a borewell under the influence of alcohol on Wednesday night," said CO. At around 1am, he returned home, covered Rampal in a white cloth and placed him in bucket, and threw him into a borewell, police said. "When his neighbours started searching for Rampal in the morning, he started misleading them. They grew suspicious and informed the local police station. Police detained Saini and started interrogating him and in the course of questioning, he confessed to the crime," said Yadav. "We could not save the child.
