26-yr-old driver killed as truck topples, catches fire in Dausa
Bharatpur, Nov. 22 -- A truck driver was burnt alive after a container overturned and caught fire on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway on Friday in Dausa district, police said.
According to police, the accident took place under Rahuwas police station at pillar number 209 of the expressway.
Dausa superintendent of police, Sagar Rana, said that the container was transporting meat from Uttar Pradesh's Unnao to Maharashtra.
The deceased driver, was identified as 26-year-old Akash. The body was sent to the district hospital's mortuary for post-mortem.
Fire brigade vehicles were called to the spot to extinguish the fire, after which traffic was resumed.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver lost control and the container truck hit a LED pillar then overturned.
"Just after hitting the pillar and overturning, the container caught fire," SP Rana said.
Police said they are examining CCTV footage which shows that the truck lost balance, overturned and caught fire....
