213 shops built on forest land demolished in ajmer: Officials
Jaipur, Aug. 3 -- Ajmer district administration on Saturday has demolished at least 213 shops illegally set up in the Taragarh forest land, said officials.
District collector Lok Bondhu, said, "The drive was operated under the supervision of our sector officers. At least 90% of the encroachments comprising 213 structures have been removed. They were also issued a notice few months ago. However, we didn't remove 55 properties on which the High Court put a stay."
He added: "W had also deployed a heavy police force and forest officials from across four districts to maintain the law and order situation. The eviction happened peacefully. Rest of the encroachments will also be removed soon."
The drive was started at around 8 am on Saturday morning and was underway for more than 9 hours, said officials. "These encroachments have been running illegally for more than five to ten years which were recently identified by the forest department. The court has also ordered to remove them," said Bondhu.
At least 250 forest officials have been appointed from four districts and a heavy police force comprising 900 personnel have been deployed in the area. Since morning, the area was completely surrounded by the security forces and entrance of any outsider was prohibited.
The officials reached the places with bulldozers and removed the 213 structures.
The deputy forest conservator, Veerendra Singh Zora, said, "The entire area was divided in six sectors for the drive and separate teams under the sector officers were deployed in the concerned areas.. Today, w have majorly removed the encroachments on the two major roads. The locals had co-operated with us and the eviction was peaceful. There was 145 encroachments on one side of the road and another 123 on the other side. We removed all except for the ones under the court's jurisdiction yet."...
